A dental implant is an artificial root of biocompatible titanium that replaces one or more missing teeth.
The implant will be inserted in the surgical phase of the treatment when bone augmentation could be needed. The surgery is minimally invasive and requires a short recovery time, similar to that of a light extraction.
The prosthetic phase is usually done after surgery, but there are cases when and immediate placement of implants is possible. In this phase the abutment and the ceramic crown will be placed on the implant.
